Inspired by Isaiah 21
I remember my friend sending me to the watch point in search of something only his words had shown me.
I went eagerly, carrying his words with me, knowing exactly what I was told to watch for.
My friend didn’t tell me when I would see what I am looking for but I trusted his word and watched expectantly.
Day after day, I grew accustomed to remaining underneath the echoes of that command.
I remained attentive to what I had already heard.
The sun coming and going,
the moon returning to visit
What appeared inactive was only beyond my sight.
The words I had rehearsed in my mind, day after day, began to take shape on the horizon.
I recognized what I saw because I had first known it by his words.
I remembered my first arrival at the watch point.
Back then, I only came because my friend had sent me.
At some point it started to become familiar to me
The way the sun set, when the moon appeared, what the horizon looked like at certain hours.
After I saw the action my friend told me to seek there was apart of me that didn’t want to leave the watch point.
This landscape now held the memory of all the days I had learned to trust him.
The landscape that once held my waiting now held the memory of his faithfulness.
I had come here to watch for what he promised.
Somehow, it became the place I would return to when I needed to remember his voice
I remember my friend sending me to the watch point in search of something only his words had shown me.
